Create a monthly budget
Record all income and expenses. According to the ENEF 2025-2030, only 23% of Mexicans create a formal budget.
Control your cash flow
Identify collection and payment cycles. Factoring can help bridge liquidity gaps without taking on debt.
Build a contingency fund
Only 17% of the population could face an unexpected expense. Reserve at least 3 months of operating expenses.
Avoid over-indebtedness
30% borrowed to cover monthly expenses. Assess your repayment capacity before seeking financing.
Responsible Credit
Before seeking financing, it's essential to understand the difference between payment capacity and borrowing capacity, and to evaluate which alternative best suits your situation.
Payment Capacity vs. Borrowing Capacity
Payment capacity is the amount you can allocate monthly to debt payments without compromising your operations. Borrowing capacity is the maximum amount an institution would lend you. Always prioritize your payment capacity—just because you qualify for more doesn't mean you should borrow more.
Bank Credit vs. Factoring
Bank credit creates a debt obligation. Factoring accelerates collection of money already owed to you—it's not a loan but a sale of receivables. This key difference means factoring doesn't increase your debt level and doesn't require collateral.
Before requesting financing, ask yourself:
- ✓Can I pay the monthly installments without affecting my operations?
- ✓Have I compared the CAT across at least 3 options?
- ✓Is this financing productive (generates income) or for consumption?
- ✓Do I understand all the fees and charges involved?
